These tangy and citrusy leaves are a must in creating authentic Southeast Asian Cuisine. Kaffir Limes trees are native to Indonesia and used throughout the region in curries, soups and flavorings on proteins. The aromatic leaves are quite different from the tart limes we are familiar with in the west and have an almost lemon lime tang.
Whole leaves have an hour glass shape like two leaves connected by a single spine. Add a few leaves whole to your curry, soup or stock for extra flavor or your favorite protein like chicken or fish for extra tang. Use similarly to bay leaves; take the leaves out before eating. Use in lemonades, cocktails or even desserts for a tangy kick.
